Don't we have to get relegated down to keagye 1 and have a points deduction if we want to follow the true Southampton model?

I think the entire global population thinks that Allardyce has to go.

Maybe I disagree with you starting yet another thread on it and raving about Southampton who are trendy at the moment (despite most people having them as certs to go down at the start of the season)?

>>> You make us sound 100 miles away from them whereas precisely no one would be surprised if our league positions were swapped next season, and if we're lacking in all these areas don't you think our manager has done a good job?

Just looking on tmkt, and according to that Southampton made a £30m profit in the transfer market, while we had a £30m deficit. So in that sense, the cost of us being a fair bit worse than Southampton this season was around £60m at face value. They have a lower wage budget too.

How long can that continue?

I don't really understand the attitude that says that we don't have to improve in all departments. I don't see the problem in looking at clubs that are being more successful than us and trying to look at how they're doing it. Doesn't mean we have to just copy them.

Re: Southampton

Why don't we wait and see what happens regarding the manager before jumping to conclusions?

The reality is that we were in deep shit when Allardyce came in. He got us up and kept us up. Arguably, if we'd maintained our early season form and style of play then most of us would be happy for him to stay. He didn't though and that's why he needs to go.

Things don't just happen overnight.

>>> The point is that we clearly have the foundations to be where Southampton are...

"Completely disagree. We lack the facilities, the structure, the proven recruitment skills, analytics, focus on youth development, continuity from youth to first team, philosophy on the pitch or off it."

You make us sound 100 miles away from them whereas precisely no one would be surprised if our league positions were swapped next season, and if we're lacking in all these areas don't you think our manager has done a good job?

Just dont agree Alex. They've achieved nothing. I would rather emulate a team that have achieved something. Too sensible for you?

Pagey,
It ain't easy for me and you....but for an ambitious Premiership club that calls itself "West Ham London" and is about to move into the Olympic Stadium it should be doable

I agree with that to some extent. Southampton haven't got everything right, it's not long ago they gambled wrongly on Osvaldo, which could have been their equivalent of our mistake with Carroll. And I think a fair amount of the success this season came from using Koeman's cache to buy the two best players from Dutch football, and that Alderweireld was a sensation.

It might also be that they are as dependent on Les Reed to hold that club structure together as other clubs are dependent on managers.

They're definitely a club worth looking at though. It's only the rabid types on this thread that take such opinions as a threat.

Yes but that's what I was going for. Your is due to some kind of mental condition I suspect and completely unintentional. You're not very self aware are you? I think you should thank me for bringing this to your attention really.

Hows the study going?

Re: Southampton
the masterplan is constantly replacing the squad for a profit. it's a nice wish but not practical or always possible, especially when you have a blinkered prehistoric cunt like allardyce in charge

Re: Southampton
If it's that easy, go and get Bilic then.

Just phone him and he'll say yes. That's how it works. If Bilic doesn't work out we'll give Laudrup a ring.

Piss easy this football lark.

Re: Southampton
Southampton have a business model that relies on a very rich woman with zero interest in football not cashing in her chips for a respectable amount of time after her father's death.

I wouldn't get too carried away with the Saints as a model for long-term success.
